Batman Returns Fan Poster

This was my first attempt to paint a picture entirely with black gouache.

I found a great reference photo in a fashion magazine of a magician holding a white dove. I reduced the number of fingers on his hand and replaced the dove with a cigarette. I also added the monocle and white smoke to give the image a more graphic look.

I was pretty happy with the final result, which reflected a sort of dark ink pot feel, as in the Tim Burton film.
